In other rambley my life news: Boy and I had a big long chat about moving last night, and I think I have him on board with a possible move back to the neighborhood/s that I prefer in the city, being society hill and washington square west aka the gayborhood (as much as I like NoLibs it is seriously inconvenient to ALL of my friends and lots of my favorite places and did I mention the shopping, its not close to that either.)
oh and in case you've never done this: put cocoa powder in your oatmeal. do it now. I have no idea why I never thought of this before- its amazing.
ok onto the reviews- we've got mostly tops here and one dress. I have to say that I was quite disappointed in my stores size selection, half the items I wanted to try on were gone in my size, and even a size up from my size, and a couple of tops I've been eyeing online were not in store yet, so all and all it was a kind of disappointing visit. Leaving me craving more anthro, and begging by for a ride to dirty jersey this weekend as I'm really starting to prefer the closest anthro in NJ to the center city (which I always thought was their flagship, since, you know, their headquartered here) store.
millefeulle tank: whats this, me? in stripes? liking it? this top was so lovely and soft and comfy, I loved it. I ordered it when I got home later in the evening. This is the xs, I would say this runs true to size for knits.
a close up of the detailing:
foliage fancy tee- why oh why did I not order/buy this before it was sold out in an xs??? this is a small, its a bit too big, I also love the green color, which I ordered in the proper size. love.
sprinkled shells top- meh. in its defense this is a small, and I really needed an xs. The details on this top are gorgeous, don't get me wrong. I just wish the fit wasn't so, well, billowy. I hope my store eventually has an xs so I can try it on and see if the sizing difference changes my opinion of this pretty piece.
sweet and sour blouse - oh how I wanted to love this (and might in a size two as opposed to the zero pictured here.) the colors are pretty, but it was too tight across the chest on me (weird,) and a bit shorter than I like. It also doesn't fit my life this summer, I feel like this a great office top to wear with a blazer or cardi, and I'm going to be holed up in various libraries and coffee shops studying all summer so this baby just seems like an irrational purchase for me. I would recommend maybe sizing up depending on your body type.
banderole tank- love- runs true to size. I really want this, but own something VERRY similar from f21 las summer, really same colors, similar shape, similar pattern (the f21 piece is more geometric) but if this goes on sale, its replacing my cheapie similar piece in a heartbeat. This is a 0, they didn't have a 2, which i would have also tried on just to see if the boobie area could get a little less scandalous than it was here (though I do think if I had been wearing a normal, and not crazy push up bra I would not have had any issues on this front)
fragrant valley dress- this is a size two. I like it, I dont love it. The colors and pattern are gorgeous, its just not a very "me" dress. If I had an office job right now I'd probably be all over it though, but I don't, so I'm not.
I also ordered a few other items that I didn't spot in store that I just had to have:
the homespun horticultural tank: This is such a me shirt- I'll probably be living in this and shorts most of the summer.
gold standard shorts: I couldn't resist these, they're the metallic threaded shorts I've wanted, well, forever. And the price, totally reasonable.
rapunzel necklace- I think this a great summer necklace to match almost everything and look just a wee bit tribal.
I'll be back later today with an ootd, promise.

The homespun horticulture tank is really pretty. Everything looks cute on you.
ReplyDeleteI like the colors on the banderole tank. The dress looks really good on you, too. But if it doesn't fit in your lifestyle now, it's best to hold off and find things that DO :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm still loving your necklace! I want one!!
Those shorts are super cute! LOVE them!

Oh my gosh! I want the Homespun Horticultural Tank, so gorgeous!! I sure hope your store gets it soon so you can show us what it looks like on a person. Sadly, the closest Anthro here is 4 hours away, so I have to stick to online ordering!
ReplyDeleteI love those shorts! Next time I go in I'm going to try those on. Every girl needs a pair of metallic shorts (and the price IS great!).

I love the first two tops, as well as the shorts. I still have yet to venture over to an Anthro ;(
ReplyDeleteLOL @ "If I had an office job right now I'd probably be all over it though, but I don't, so I'm not" Just made me laugh, because that's soo something THISGIRL would say....
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so good on you, natalie! Oh and thanks for the tips on running and shoes, etc! Do you run???
I love the striped top on you! The bib detailing is really amazing, and the cut is fabulous! And the banderole tank is amazing too, though if you have a similar piece, I think you're doing the right thing by waiting for it to go on sale!
ReplyDeleteI am especially fond of the sprinkled shells top. I love me some sparkle!

Can you let us know what the rapunzel necklace looks like? And also how tall you are? I'm really interested in it, but from the reviews it seems that it might look better on taller women. Thanks! Love the blog. I'm a new reader.
ReplyDeleteWould LOVE to hear your review of those gold shorts once you get them!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see a review on the Millefeulle Tank. I loved this top at first glance online, but was a little put off by the stripes when I took a closer look. It looks fabulous on you! I'm going to give it a try my next Anthro trip :)
