ootd: cuffed jeggings, wedges and paisley & styled: sparkly shorts

As promised a post or two back- I'm going to be doing another styling of shorts in this post. Todays topic- shorts with a little bit of glitz to them, no I'm not talking all out sequins, but metallic/glimmery finishes and threading. Im a huge fan of these, wanted a pair last year and never took the plunge. I'm determined to do it this year. determined I say. Anyway- scroll all the way down for my shimmery shorts picks and a styling of them.

Someone commented yesterday that they wanted my diet and fitness routine (ps- I have no idea why anyone wants it, I'm really not super fit by any means.) Anyway, this was very idea bolstering to me because I was already mulling over starting to do a monday morning post recapping what I managed to do work out wise and food health wise, more to keep me accountable (because I have been seriously slacking as of late) and bore you readers than anything else. But its nice to know that someone wants to hear it- so look for that on Monday as well as the story of how I managed to make myself start looking at my body and food intake from what I see as a healthy perspective, because, trust me, I used to be extremely unhealthy in the way I looked at food, working out and my body in general and I think a lot of women are and I feel that the more stories of how to overcome that are out there, the better.

here's what I'm wearing today- though I do plan on changing for happy hour tonight (and will post the super cute outfit I have planned if I have a chance during what I'm sure is likely to be a mad dash out the door)

As I mentioned above, I really want to get a pair of metallic shorts this season, and here are my favorite takes on the metallic short look:
I love the rebecca taylor shorts- they're a smidge on the elegant side which really counters the possible trash factor of the blingy butt.

these burnished short shorts from anthro are another great option, they're a little more fitted and thus a little more versatile, at least for me.

these provide a slightly more budget friendly option (also f21 had a pair for awhile, I'm hoping it or something akin to it comes back, because under $25 would be great for this look)

A patterned take might be good for those who dont want a fully glimmery effect on their lower half- these would look great paired with a solid top and a great pair of wedges or heels:

Last, but not least, is a silver take for those who prefer the look to gold tones:

I only had time to do one look with these shorts- so I went with my favorite potential take on it- brights/patterns on top and everything else pretty simple. I think that solid/neutral tops would also look great with these, allowing you to play with shoe/bag color and accessories more.

  1. Ooo, I'd love to know your workout routine too! You may not think so, but I think you look like you're in excellent shape! But I agree, the more stories I hear about other ladies stepping it up to get fit, the more inspired I get to get fit myself!

  2. Hi! I just recently found your blog and I just LOVE your style!! I love your hair, too! Mine is similar in color, cut and length, but doesn't look nearly as good! LOL Any secrets? How do you get your curls to stay (when you curl it)? Mine fall flat in 30 minutes. Can't wait to see more!

  4. Amy Kelinda- thanks! I'll def post it on monday.

Amy- thanks- if it makes you feel better my curls only stay well if the weather conditions are just right, too much wind/some rain, and pouf- they delate to a flat, somewhat ratty mess. I do think it helps that I don't wash my hair every day; it stays a lot better when it gets a little gunky.

    Beautygirl- thanks!
